Anxiety Cures – Simple Steps To Less Stress

Anxiety cures are not as rare as you may believe. While some level of anxiety is good, too much is not. It is normal to feel butterflies fluttering in your stomach before an exam or special event, but then those butterflies reach the point of feeling like bats flying around, it’s time to slow down and take a deep breath.

Take a walk. You don’t have to join a gym and work up a sweat or pain, a simple thirty minute walk can distract your thoughts as it takes place. Enjoy the scenery. Perhaps a different walk everyday will be more interesting. Trekking the same path day after day can induce dread in the best of well-doers.

Lose the caffeinated beverages. Coffee, cola and other stimulating drinks such as energy drinks can just increase those feeling of anxiety.

A glass of wine or other alcoholic beverage does not fall under the category of anxiety cures. While the temporary high is good, the morning after even a couple of drinks has deeper lows than the ones that are not preceded by alcohol.

Take a deep, deep breath. Don’t breathe just with your diaphragm. Instead lie down in a comfortable spot. Place one hand on your stomach and one on your chest. Breathe with your abdomen. Take a breath slowly in through your nose and release it slowly through your mouth. If you do this for about 5 to 10 minutes, you will notice a relief in muscle tension.

Allow some time to just sit and worry. Limit your worry time to about one half hour. During the day, make notes of things that trigger worry and tell yourself that you will worry about it later. When you get to your designated half hour, some of those things will appear very insignificant.

Don’t walk around looking at the floor. Look at the trees, the sky, the ceiling. Bring your spirits and your vision up. Let the sun shine on your face.

Relax your shoulders. Tension has a tendency to bring those shoulders up around your ears. Not good.
Lower your voice. By softening your voice consciously, you will not only calm others but yourself as well. Speaking loudly is no more beneficial than listening to someone shout at you.

When stress is at it’s peak, imagine yourself across the room. You can be the other anxious person, not you. You are here, that other person is over there.

If these anxiety cures are not effective enough, you may want to talk to your physician. One of the better anxiety cures is cognitive behavioral therapy. This would be done by a psychologist or a psychotherapist.

There is also the possibility that your doctor may prescribe medications for short term use during your cognitive therapy treatments. Things such as tricyclic antidepressants or MAO inhibitors are quite effective for anxiety. There are dietary precautions that must be put into place with the MAO inhibitors. Discuss this with your doctor.

All of these things will allow you to regain control of your emotions and your life.
