Panic Symptom – How do you Know?
Suddenly your heart starts pounding, going faster and faster. As it does you become short of breath and feel tightness in your chest. What could it be? Heart attack maybe? Or a panic symptom.
Many people mistake a panic symptom for the beginnings of a serious malady. Often, a trip to the emergency room is the first place you go, especially the first time it happens. It is a scary experience and you need to know if you are going to make it to the next day. Too often when the diagnosis of a panic attack is made, people tend to shrink and rapidly go into denial.
By educating yourself to the signs and symptoms and seeking the proper treatment, these panic attacks can subside.

You know that palpitations, accompanied by sweat and chest pain are the signs of a heart attack. So off to the emergency department you will go.
Women are more likely to have these symptoms than men. They usually occur in young adults and rarely if ever in seniors for the first time. Not knowing what is happening is terrifying for anyone, but if you put all the symptoms of a potential catastrophic illness into a 20-30 year old, it is even more terrifying. There thoughts will be that they are too young for this to happen.
Diagnosis and treatment will help with these feelings of panic. One panic symptom at a time can go by the wayside with the proper medication and a course of specific psychotherapy. Neither of the two is as effective alone, but together improvement can be seen in a couple of months.
There are people who have nothing more than panic attacks. There are others who will have a progression of the various symptoms mentioned. The problem with the first one, is people seek medical attention. That usually will be normal, with no disease process.
As the attacks progress and repeat and another panic symptom surfaces, medical treatment is again sought. Still there will be no medical problem. Unfortunately, too many people will seek help from an assortment of physicians, psychologists and counselors before they hit on the right one who will diagnose the condition accurately. In the meantime, the attacks occur, symptoms increase and the person becomes more and more nervous about their illness.
